Okay I admit it I'm not a VM guy. That is mostly because I tend to experiment with a piece of hardware or an app before I stop to read the instructions. I tend to do alright with installing Linux or windows on individual tablets and laptops.
Last night I did a Garuda Linux install on a laptop that will likely be my main lab system. Everything seems to be working out okay so far. I went looking through the list of installed apps in this distribution. I found one called "Virtual Machine Manager". It seems to use a format I am not familiar with called QEMU.
With that backstory in place I am going to create a VM and install Kali. Let's hope I don't blow it up.
10 minutes later.
Good news! The first VM worked. I got the current version of Kali working. I'll include some photos I took with my phone. I think its pretty cool to see one flavor of Linux working top of another.
For my next trick, I'm going to try creating another VM running Windows 10 LTSC Enterprise. Initial results were favorable. The install process worked fine. After the restart things went sideways. The end result was a loss of both VMs.
From here I go back to the drawing board.
