Back in the Day ( hardware repairs)

I was looking at some of the older videos that I made for the purpose of helping some of our Field Reps and customers. This video in particular was viewed over 200 times. That number may not be impressive to some. You have to understand that the model of All-In-One PC used in this video was deployed to almost two thousand locations throughout the world. This video was viewed a few days ago.

This model was put in service back in 2010.

At the time this video was made we were getting three to four calls about CPU fan errors. If you ignored this error then you ran the risk of the system over heating causing a shutdown. Other rarer instances included an overheated CPU igniting the accumulated dust bunnies to catch fire. Normally we would just get the PC sent back to us for repair or we would just replace it. At some point we would salvage working fans from other damaged PCs of a the same model and send it on site where the customer or rep would install it with us on the phone walking them through the process. It didn't take long for this video to be made. Primarily it was made to assist those in the field to learn how to do this on there own. We had other types of All-In-One PCs that got the CPU fan error. The steps were more or less the same to do the repair.

The "Take Away" of this story is that soon after uploading the video to YouTube and Vimeo we noticed that we stopped getting calls for that error. Reducing the number of calls for this problem, saving the company in replacement costs and man hours for the department.
